Moonlighting 2019: Protest and Persuasion

Ashland Contemporary Theatre is proud to present our annual festival of new short works by local writers: “Moonlighting 2019: Protest and Persuasion.” In these seven short plays, characters wrestle with the issues through dramatic protests, absurdist comedy and gentle (or firm) persuasion.

The featured plays are: “Wish Granted” by Diane Nichols, a woman invites her friend to make a better choice; “People on a Plane” by Teresa Peterson, mayhem with entitled first class passengers; “Educating Cyrus” by Archie Koenig, an Artificial Intelligence software gets schooled by an unhappy owner; “Origins of Species” by Mark Saunders, creationism de-bunked with a hilarious and visible fact; “True Love” by Bob Valine explores the things we do in the name of love. New aptly titled monologues by Dori Appel (“Unsolved Crimes”) and Jeannine Grizzard (“Rights”) will also be showcased.

The “Protest and Persuasion” collection of plays is directed by Jeannine Grizzard, Diane Nichols, Teresa Peterson and Peggy Rubin. Actors are: Katie Herling, Adam Kilgore, Archie Koenig, Janna Mitchell, Trevor Pekas, Teresa Peterson, Andrew Reilly and Jeannine Grizzard. All playwrights are veterans of the “Moonlighting” series.

“Moonlighting 2019” plays at Grizzly Peak Winery on Thursday August 8th at 8pm, Friday August 9th at 2pm (matinee), Saturday August 10th at 8pm and then at Carpenter Hall on the OSF campus at 2pm on Sunday August 11th.
