Building the Wall by Robert Schenkkan

Ashland Contemporary Theatre proudly presents Building the Wall by Robert Schenkkan

Oregon Stage Works’ artistic director Peter Alzado directs this contemporary thriller as a reading.

The setting: a federal prison in 2019. Shanique Scott, an award winning MFA graduate, plays Gloria, a history professor who travels hundreds of miles in an attempt to uncover a mystery. Veteran actor Jim Bowen again teams up with Peter Alzado in his portrayal of Rick, a man caught in the middle of powerful forces he has no control over; his only remaining resource is the force of his character. Together Gloria and Rick grapple with the “how” and the “why” of a man charged with solving a problem more thoroughly than anyone could have imagined.

Playwright Robert Schenkkan is the Tony Award winning author of “All the Way” about President Lyndon Johnson and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for “The Kentucky Cycle.”
